At 10.00 we said goodbye to our neighbors, filled the water tank of the camper and drove off. We drove along the coast and made a stop against a clock on the small island of Iceland Monkey. It means that one can find there also gold and sapphire on the beach, if you're lucky. We were first time back in the camper who ate the remaining potatoes and sprouts with Gorgonzola, toasted bread and salad dressing, and went on until the search for gold and sapphires.
Unfortunately, I found, despite great effort and great masses of stones no gold or other valuables. It was nice nonetheless. The island itself is very small with a lookout on top, which can be reached at low tide safely without getting wet.
Then went on the trip. The landscapes was again noticeably bigger hills, the mountains, then changed too. We arrived in Manapouri Lake Manapouri. A fairly large lake with many small islands.
Then we drove on and turned between Manapouri and Te Anau in a forest path that leads to the Waiau River. There, the escape on the shores of the first part of LOTR was filmed. Even the forest with all the moss and ancient trees has a magical atmosphere.
The information we had from the little booklet that we had bought in Churchill. Otherwise we would not have found this place.
Next we went and we arrived in Te Anau. It is the starting point for many services, which is the environment. You can go from here by plane, boat or bus to Milford Sound, which has the largest number of visitors. By car it is about 300 km During indicate a curved road.
We first visited the building and watched as information on the small display. Even the ducks were there in large numbers at home and just crossed our path. Then we chose the top ten place and walked from there to the center road, where we then pizza and spaghetti with a little Italian restaurant ordered. Back at the campsite Helen wrote cards and I could devote my book.

Hello Helen and Dani
I am following with great interest your journey. There are so many memories. The speedboat ride was 20 years ago and makes a high point, if one has a little used to it, really fun. I am glad that you enjoyed the trip and experiencing all the great adventure. I wish I had it!
Have fun and safe trip!
