Vegetarianism

Vegetarians - but the spin :-)

Whether you can now eat meat or not, is left to each well myself. I also hear a lot, not eating meat is unhealthy, the man is a meat eater. This view, however, I am less. I personally suspect the opposite. The following table is certainly worth that one recognizes her a glance.
Anatomy comparison frutarians-meat eaters

Fruit eaters (frugivorous)
(Humans, apes)
Meat eater (carnivore)
(Lion, tigers, wolves, ...)
Teeth: Flat molars to grind food. Fangs, well-developed canine teeth, sharp molars.
Saliva: Alkaline saliva for starch degradation, many salivary glands for predigestion. Acidic saliva to digest animal protein, it lacks the starch-degrading enzyme
Ptyalin; little saliva glands.
Pine: Laterally movable to grind the food. Only forward and backward movement is possible, for tearing and biting.
Stomach: Elongated shape, complicated structure, a little hydrochloric acid and pepsin. Simple round "bag" with ten times more hydrochloric acid than in vegetarians to tough
Animal muscles, bones, digest, etc..
Intestine: Long and winding, large surface area. Short and smooth so that the fast decaying meat is rapidly cleared from the body.
Liver: Can only reduce the uric acid formed by the body itself (hardly
Urikasebildung).
Much more active, able to be ready-to ten-fifteen times more uric acid with
(Larger Urikasebildung).

The human anatomy is most likely a fruit eater (frugivorous). His whole body is designed. Meat eaters (carnivores) differ in many ways by humans. All vegetarian species have a similar anatomy as fruit eaters.

Another reason that speaks against eating meat is the way in which the meat is produced today. I think we would even have a slaughterhouse visit had the horse, chicken, beef or pork, might pass some of the appetite. This mass destruction on live animals is done in such a derogatory way, that you have to question it.

Anyone who eats meat, has also the slaughterhouse - images agree, more or less a duty click:

And then some people, who gave his life as a vegetarian, even before our time preference. Here you will find quotations - one or the other authors will be known well.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519)

Italian polymath

You have the people called the king of beasts - I would say: King of the predators, are among whom you are the greatest, because you have not killed, so they serve you for palate satisfaction, so you make yourself to the grave of all animals? Generated because nature is not enough vegetables, with whom you can sate yourself?

There will come a day when people judge about the killing of an animal, just as they now judge a man's. There will come a time in which we condemn the eating of animals as well, as we now condemn the eating of our own kind, cannibalism.

I've already sworn off in recent years, the eating of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look at the animal killers with the same eyes as now the murderer.

Verily, man is the king of all animals, because his cruelty surpasses theirs. We live by the death of others. We are walking graves!

Plutarch (45-125)

Greek philosopher and writer

For a tiny little piece of meat to the animals we take the soul as well as sunlight and life, but what they created and are naturally there.

Can you really ask what reason Pythagoras abstained from eating the meat? I for one am wondering under what circumstances and in what state of mind is a person the first time bring himself to touch it with his mouth blood, to lead his lips to the flesh of a corpse and his table with dead, decaying bodies to grace, and It has then allowed the parts that have just been still yelling and screaming, moves and lived to mention food. It is certainly not lions and wolves that we eat to protect themselves - on the contrary, these animals we pay no attention, but we slaughter harmless, tame creatures without stings or teeth to harm us could onehin nothing. Order of the flesh we deprive them of the sun, the light and life, which they are entitled by birth.

If you want to argue now that the nature of such foods would have provided for you, then kills himself, what does it eat - but with your nature-given means, not with a butcher knife, a club or a hatchet.

Do not want people to forget so far and treat living creatures like old shoes and worn-out dead devices that may throw them away when they are no longer usable. We should not do it, and we never to old living creatures about the usefulness, they have only weakly or not at all. We should keep them, and if only to learn from mercy to people. I would not

Schweitzer, Albert (1875-1965)

Theologian and medical missionary, 1952 Nobel Peace Prize

Whenever an animal in the service of man is forced to go the suffering which it endured, all of us.

Animal welfare education is to humanity.

I give an account of the habit of eating meat, not sublime feelings is in agreement.

My view is that we who advocate for the protection of animals renounce entirely the consumption of meat, and also talk to him. I make it myself. And so so many come to the problem, which was set up so late to become attentive.

Ethics is in the infinite extended responsibility to everything that lives.

Tesla, Nikola (1856-1943)

Inventors, such as remote control, radio, multi-phase alternating current power, alternating current motors

The cultivation of vegetables is certainly to be preferred, and I think that vegetarianism is a recommended departure from the existing barbarous habits. ... Many races living almost exclusively from vegetables, have excellent physical condition and strength. ... In regard to these facts every effort should be made to stop the wanton and cruel slaughter of animals, which must destroy our moral values. ... It seems no philosophical necessity for food to give. We can think of organized beings living without food and relate all the energy they need to perform their vital functions, from the environment.

Tolstoy, Leo (1828-1910)

Humanist, author (including "War and Peace")

Eating meat is one of the largest remnant of barbarism, and the transition to vegetarianism is the first and most natural consequence of the Enlightenment.

If the person seriously and sincerely seeking the moral way, then the first, which he turned away must the meat diet: is it apart from the excitement of the passions, which is caused by this food, the same simply immoral because it one of the moral feeling again speaking indeed, requires the killing.

Man can live and be healthy without killing animals for their diet. So if he eats meat, he is complicit in the murder of animals, only to flatter his taste. To act so is immoral. This is so simple and unquestionably that it is impossible not to assent. But because the majority still depends on the consumption of meat, so it is justified to keep the people laughing and saying: 'A piece of steak but is a beautiful thing, and I'll eat it for lunch today with pleasure.'

The pity is always the same feeling, whether it feels for a man or a fly. The man withdraws from the pity accessible in both cases, the selfishness and expand the moral satisfaction of his life.

People would rather perish than to change their habits.

As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be wars.

If you can not kill a man - well, you can kill no birds and no cattle - better yet, no fish and insects - even better.

Try as much as possible to come. Pry not, what is possible and what is not - Do what you bring with your physical condition - Then comes to everything.

Wagner, Richard (1813-1883)

Composer

I do not know how the love of God will again evaluate my life's work. In recent weeks I've written more than fifty pages of the score of Parsifal and rescued three young dogs life. Let's see what is weighty press on the pan.

Us was the sight of the bull sacrificed to the gods become an abomination, we now washed clean by water from slaughterhouses daily carnage of those withdrawn from the consideration of all the Mittagsmal the unrecognizable body parts of murdered ADAPTED pets should be tasty. We should henceforth only be keen to have won the religion of pity, the confessors of the utilitarian dogma in spite of a strong ground for new nursing with us.

What we expect from a religion because if we close out the compassion for the animals?

Busch, Wilhelm (1832-1908)

The knife until further notice, the swine shrine flashes, you must stop using it, because everyone thinks "What a pig, if we do not plaster it?" And every smile, every kind of gnawing by cannibals, Till one day, "Ugh! "To say ham from Westphalia.

With all the creatures I am the most beautiful soul in harmony. We are related, I feel it deeply, and for that reason I love it.

Is it only true human culture, if not only cannibalism, but any kind of meat-eating is considered cannibalism.

Nothing will increase the chance of survival of life on earth as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.

Purely by their physical effects on the human temperament as a vegetarian, the fate of mankind would be able to influence very positively.

Francis of Assisi (1182-1226)

All creatures on earth feel like we are all creatures seek happiness as we do. All creatures of the earth to love, suffer and die like us, so they are well assimilated works of the Almighty Creator - our brothers.

God wants us to assist the animals when they need help. Each being in distress has the same right to protection.

Freud, Sigmund

I prefer the company of animals from the human. Certainly, a wild animal is cruel. But the meanness is the prerogative of civilized people.

The priest will give the essential equality of man and animals ever since he can not do without the immortal soul, he needs to justify the moral claim.

Gandhi, Mahatma (1869-1948)

Leader of the ind. Independence movement, Nobel Prize 1913

I believe that spiritual progress requires of us at some point that we cease to kill our fellow creatures for the satisfaction of our bodily desires.

For me, the life of a lamb is no less valuable than the life of a person. And I would never be the human body's sake to take the life of a lamb. The more helpless a creature, the greater is his human right to protection from human cruelty.

Vivisection is the blackest of all black crimes of which man is now guilty.

The size of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

I feel deeply the spiritual growth in a certain stage commands us to stop the slaughter of our fellow creatures for the satisfaction of our bodily needs.
