From Sydney to Christchurch was not all too long flight. We explored two and a half weeks, the South Island. The beauty of the South Island is safe in their nature and topography. We drove down the east coast to Invercargill where we made a side trip to Lake Tekapo and Mt Coor. Lake Tekapo, we were able to celebrate in the camper in the wild and windy nature Helene's birthday.
From the south heading north again, we passed the town of Queenstown, where we also enjoyed an adventurous ride through canyons on a jetboat. Again and again you have to make a stop to admire the green hilly countryside. On the west coast we drove through the wild forests up to Westport, and from there to Nelson and Blenheim, we visited the large estate of the family Fromm. From Picton we then switched to the North Island.
The northern New Zealand comes up with an active planet. So it is historically interesting but also tragic stories about the country, where the volcanoes can be unpredictable. Especially the area around Rotorua knows about it much to report. The tour ended in New Zealand in Auckland, the springboard to South America.
